Chris Hill

Chris heads up the Commercialisation team at AUT Ventures, responsible for helping researchers to find commercial applications for their research coming out of the university. This is achieved by either creating new “spin-out” companies or licensing the intellectual property to existing companies.

Chris is a mechanical engineer who has spent many years leading multinational product development teams building everything from cars and planes to household products, and most recently electronic products for boats. His responsibilities have included mechanical design, industrial design, systems engineering, sustainability, project management, and operations. He has good experience of different business cultures, having spent a total of 6 years working overseas in England, Ireland, USA, and France. He recently undertook a career change to join AUT Ventures and brings a strong commercial mindset to the team.

He loves finding solutions to interesting problems, and is revelling in the opportunity to work with so many incredibly talented people at AUT.
