Ross Peat
Board Director

Ross Peat a former MD of Microsoft NZ, and former Chair of Apteryx Wealth. He is a General Partner in Tuhua Ventures, co-owner of the pharmacy tech company HealthSoft, and is acting Chair of REANNZ.

He is the former deputy Chair (to June 2014) of the Crown-owned Institute of Environmental and Scientific Research Ltd (ESR) and was Founding Chair of currency and payments business KlickEx (to June 2013). He is a member of the Ice Angels investment group and sits on the Ice Angels Deal Flow committee.

Peat is a member of the Advisory Board for the University of Otago Business School, and is a Trustee of the Hi-Tech Trust. He is a former Co-Chair of the ICT NZ industry body.

As Managing Director of Microsoft New Zealand from April 2002 to June 2006 he was a passionate advocate for digital inclusion and oversaw Microsoft's New Zealand business growth and its contribution to the wider New Zealand community.

Prior to becoming CEO he was Director of Sales and Marketing for Microsoft. Peat first joined Microsoft in 1992 as Corporate Business Marketing Manager, and introduced Microsoft's first comprehensive volume licensing program and was recognised for achieving world-class results. He was instrumental in driving multiple product, channel program and certification launches including three generations of Windows desktop and server platforms.

Prior to joining Microsoft in 1992, Peat spent 9 years with IBM New Zealand, in a variety of sales, marketing and management roles. His secondary education was at Nelson College, and he holds a Bachelor of Science (Zoology) degree from the University of Otago. He is a qualified secondary school teacher and has taught biology, science and mathematics in Christchurch.
