Michael Fielding

Michael works with AUT's researchers to identify, secure and commercialise intellectual property coming out of research projects, particularly in the areas of engineering, science and computing.

Before joining AUT, Michael worked in a number of fields including automotive, energy, software-as-a-service, intellectual property, transport and economic development. He spent three years at Callaghan Innovation as an Investment Manager and Business Innovation Advisor, assisting businesses from pre-revenue to $100M+ with R&D plans, grant investment, and innovation.

A self-confessed geek with an unquenchable thirst for engineering, science and technology, Michael holds an MBA (Distinction) from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and a PhD in Robotics from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand (in the area of walking algorithms and design for a six-legged robot).
