Auckland Startup Weekend

Together thinks better in groups

What is it?

A high-energy, 54-hour event that simulates the entire lifecycle of a startup in just one weekend. It’s part of a global movement designed to push you out of your comfort zone. Think of it as a "hackathon" for business ideas, a pressure cooker where strangers come together to build companies from scratch in just three days.

How does it work?

The format is fast and furious. Kicking off on a Friday night with open-mic pitches, where participants vote on the best ideas and form teams on the spot. For the rest of the weekend, you work to validate the idea, build a prototype, and design a business model, supported by roaming mentors. It culminates on Sunday night with a shark-tank style pitch to a panel of judges.

Who is it for?

You don’t need a team or even an idea to join, just a ticket and a willingness to get stuck in. Open to everyone: developers, designers, marketers, students, and product managers. It is the perfect entry point for someone who wants to taste the startup experience without quitting their day job yet.
