Eccentric Fitness
Builds strength easy
The Challenge
The world today is facing increasing chronic diseases, sedentary lifestyles, and an aging population with poor physical and mental health.
The Solution
Eccentric Fitness is consumer-priced equipment providing easy yet high force eccentric exercise creating a powerful, efficient, and safe workout and rehab solution.
By using eccentric movement to lengthen muscle thereby generating high force with less metabolic effort, the key benefits of Eccentric Fitness are:
- Faster strength gains due to efficient force production, i.e. leg work requires only five to ten minutes on the recumbent version and arms and shoulders need only two minutes on the portable style.
- Lower risk of injury due to the guided eccentric movement being controlled.
- Fast-twitch muscle development to improve functional performance, reducing the risk of falls and enhances flexibility and mobility.
- Neuromuscular improvements enhancing the communication between muscles and nerves, improving overall coordination and performance.
Launching with two devices, the recumbent is a seated model allowing users to work their legs or they can choose to kneel in front and work their arms and shoulders. The second model is the smaller, portable version users can place on a desk or table to work their shoulders and arms. Both devices are IoT ready giving real-time data for athletes, patients, and general users to analyse their performance and monitor improvements.
The Investment
The development and early-stage commercialisation of Eccentric FitnessTM has been supported by funding from AUT Ventures, KiwiNet, and Harvest.com. As of late-2024, this project is ready to go to market.
